Herbicide Applicator Lead (Crew Leader, ATV / UTV Operator, Airboat Operator)


This role reports directly to an Area Manager, Area Superintendent, or Are Supervisor. In this role, the Applicator Lead should be able to communicate clearly with GLI leadership and customers alike. The Lead will be known for maintaining a positive attitude and showing outward support for GLI through their work ethic, attitude, and leadership by example. In this role the lead will be responsible for the following:

  • Acquiring and returning needed chemical each day using check out / check in process
  • Time entry for self and crew members (ExakTime)
  • Equipment inspection and supervisor review prior to leaving shop (62 Location)
  • Maintaining all equipment in good working order (Truck, Tank, Pumps, Backpacks Etc.)
  • Ensuring that self and crew has acquired proper PPE for the job site they will be working at
  • Mixing chemical as needed for crew member application
  • Completing PJRA's and any incident report forms
  • Communicating with site representatives
  • Communication with GLI management (site conditions, project completion rate, job challenges, employee issues, etc.)
  • Effective leadership of crew members through clear communication and expectations
  • Reviewing site ahead of crew and after crew (IF applicable)
  • Proficiently operate equipment in limited space without damaging equipment or job site
  • Ability to load / unload UTV and secure properly for transport
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for UTV, pump, and trailer maintenance / repair.
  • Fueling equipment prior to leaving for job site
  • Valid Driver's License
  • FDACS Core Applicators License within one year of date of hire
  • Ability to read maps
  • Ability to differentiate between desirable and nuisance species
